At Glenrich we understand the importance of effective OHS management. To this end we ensure that: Glenrich Builders Pty Ltd is responsible for the health and safety of its people and environment, and as such will provide processes and procedures that do not threaten the health and safety of employees nor others, nor the environment.
Glenrich Builders will further ensure that employees and contractors are properly selected and given sufficient training and assessment to enable them to perform their duties safely on a consistent basis as required by the OHS and EPA Acts.
OH&S Commitment
Glenrich Builders Pty Ltd acknowledges its duties under the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 and the Environment Protection Act 1970. We are committed to taking all reasonable steps towards ensuring that each workplace in which one of our employees is placed is safe and without risks to health or wellbeing.
In order to oversee the safety standards of our worksites, Glenrich Builders Pty Ltd have established an OHS procedure as part of our daily working practice. We consult with all stakeholders, including clients, on each individual job to plan and implement appropriate OHS and EPA procedures.
Glenrich Builders acknowledge that it is the responsibility of all staff; management; employees; and contractors, to co-operate with this policy and to demonstrate a personal commitment to the objectives of the policy.
OH&S Induction
Glenrich Builders have developed an industry specific OHS induction program for all new employees and projects. The objective of this induction is to provide clear information to our employees regarding the relevant hazards associated with the building industry and allied trades.
Glenrich Builders ensure that all staff have access to a qualified OHS staff member on every site. All employees are required to participate in this induction program which is assessed as part of our OHS process.
Risk Management
As part of our obligations under the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004, Glenrich Builders have established a workplace specific hazard identification and risk management policy, designed to protect client interests. To this end, Glenrich Builders will:
- Conduct Risk Assessments prior to starting each job
- Consult with all stakeholders to eliminate and/or minimise any identified risks
- Recruit skilled staff including contractors
- Conduct Inductions for each employee, contractor and visitor before allowing them on site.
- Appoint Skilled and Qualified OHS&E Supervisors who will:
- Conduct regular, at least weekly, OHS&E Toolbox Meetings with all worksite staff
- Have a Level 2 First Aider available to all sites together with fully stocked and portable First Aid boxes
- Comply with all OHS & E Codes of Practices including
- Manual Handling
- Hazards
- Plant and Equipment
- Scaffolding
- And all other appropriate Codes of Practice as required by individual sites
- Manual Handling
- Provide on-going OHS&E Training and refreshers to all employees and contractors
- Have in place Accident/Incident and Hazard Reporting Procedures and Forms
- Appoint Health and Safety Representatives in consultation with employees
- Form Designated Work Groups (DWG's) per Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004
- Provide Site Security
- Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 in respect of.
Authorised Representatives of Registered Employee Organisations (ARREO's).
Communication Process
At Glenrich Builders, our commitment to OHS begins with ensuring a clear and effective communication process. We encourage all staff, subcontractors and visitors to our sites to discuss any OHS issues that should arise. We will then take all necessary steps to address the matter.
